Deciding which projects, features, or initiatives (your airfocus items) to include in your roadmap is not an easy task. With the scoring board on the Table view, the prioritization process is now easier, more productive, more transparent, and fully integrated with the tools you use to execute your projects.

Based on best practices in product and project management, the scoring board helps you and your team objectively rate your items to identify what to focus on next.

Most importantly, the scoring board guides and moderates your strategy discussions and helps you get buy-in from key stakeholders.

With airfocus, you prioritize opportunities based on a defined (and customizable) set of value and cost criteria. Our algorithms then score your items based on your input and the relative weighting of each criterion and visually map them out on a prioritization chart (learn more) so you can make informed and more objective decisions.

Using the scoring board

To begin, add your items to the scoring board. You can add them manually or use our integrations to sync airfocus with the tools you love. To structure your projects and features you could assign labels to the items or group them (use the dropdown next to the "Add item" button or the bulk actions).

Next, rate your items for each of your strategic criteria. Once you've complete a row, we calculate the Focus score (the blue value) for the item at hand. The Focus score serves as a north star metric throughout all airfocus views to guide you to a more focused roadmap and better alignment. Learn more about the airfocus focus score here.

You can also adjust your prioritization system. Chances are high that this step is not necessary, as you've probably picked from one of our proven templates. If you decide to add, edit, or delete any of the value or cost columns (criteria) just click on "Apps" and select "Priority ratings". In the prioritization ratings, you'll be able to define your strategic factors and criteria, and their corresponding weightings.

Furthermore, you can define the rating scale (we call them value types) for each criterion by editing the values of your fields, that are used as prioritization criteria.

You can do that in the field settings:

Once you have a Focus score for each item, you have done 80% of the work.

Next, move to the prioritization matrix on the Chart view and have an objective discussion with the team about what to include on the product roadmap. Learn how to use the Chart view.
